In her second go-around as first lady, Melania Trump is not planning to live at the White House full time, according to a CNN report.
Multiple sources told CNN that Melania will be splitting her time between New York City and Palm Beach, Florida, during President-elect Donald Trump’s second term, but insisted that she would be present for major events as first lady.
Trump was also extended an invitation to the White House by first lady Dr. Jill Biden, but declined.
It has been a tradition for the incoming and outgoing first ladies to have tea at the White House, as well as a tour.
In contrast, when the president-elect lost his reelection bid in 2020, they did not host the Bidens in the White House, nor did the Trumps attend Biden’s inauguration following the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.
Trump questioned Biden’s sincerity after she said she received a call from the first lady following Trump’s first assassination attempt in July.
During an interview with “Paris Match” last month, Trump pondered whether Biden’s “concern was genuine” due to her rhetoric about her husband in the days leading up to the incident.
“I do question, however, whether Jill’s concern was genuine as a few days prior she referred to my husband as ‘evil’ and a ‘liar,’” Trump said. “It was obvious that the onslaught of rhetoric from Democrat leaders and the mainstream media was so deeply embedded in our nation’s consciousness it prompted an attempt to assassinate Donald.”
